This takes place in the same universe as Furry Children/Monster in her Child/Apart from the Ocean. It features the Kamen Rider Kiva character of Ramon and my OC Aya.
Summary: Aya's first word.
Baby's First Word
By Estirose
Ramon hefted his baby daughter into the air. Stealing her from her carriage had been easy; he'd done it more than once and his daughter's human mother had never noticed.
Aya pointed at the water, and Ramon grinned. "You want to go in the water?" he asked, and was rewarded with Aya's happy gurgle. Aya was rarely a pain to deal with. Despite her human form, she was more Merman than human. She took to the water just like any other Merman child.
Ramon had watched his temporary mate as she'd gone through the pregnancy, watched her as she took baby Aya out of the hospital. Someday, she'd be ready for him again, and Ramon would come to her and respond to her again.
But that was for later.
He walked into the water with Aya, assuming his natural form. Aya continued to gurgle happily, and extended her arms as if she wanted to swim too. "Just a minute," he said to her in their own language.
"S'im," she responded, in the same language.
Ramon stopped, looking at his daughter in awe. "You just said your first word!" It fit that it, like she, was delightfully Merman.
"S'im?" Aya asked, clearly more interested in the water than adding to her vocabulary.
"Swim it is," Ramon agreed, taking her into the water. She gave her happy gurgle again.
As they played in the water, he smiled. Aya was his daughter, the symbol of the rebirth of the Merman clan. And she was without a doubt Merman.
He had never been so proud.
