Trent had relatives in the south, he was sure. But whatever had happened to them, Anton Mercer had addopted him as his own. He longed someday to go see them, see who they were, remember who they were before he forgot. Before he became Trent Mercer entirely.

Trent Mercer was Anton Mercer's son, and most of the time he had no complaints about it. Anton Mercer could be a hard man, but he was also compassionate, he also cared. If there was any flaw in the man, it was an inability to allow Trent to be his own person.

Of course, Trent was heir to a company, but Trent didn't want to be a company heir. Trent wanted to be an artist, drawing comic books, drawing things like his parents had always encouraged him to do.

Sometimes he did want to go south, to escape what he'd found himself in. But there was still Reefside to save, there were teammates to be with, there was a father who had turned into a monster. None of it would go away if he went south.

So he didn't go south. He was too responsible.

He stayed, and fought.
