Summary: A T.J. viewpoint piece, set during "Chase into Space" part 2.
Everybody and everything here belongs to Saban, and I am taking them without permission. This occurs towards the end of "Chase into Space" part 2, and therefore contains spoilers if you haven't seen that episode. It's kind of an explanation for something in the Power Rangers in Space episode "From Out of Nowhere" part 2, although it would be a spoiler at the moment to say what.
Burdens of Leadership

T.J. waited anxiously outside NASADA for Justin to convince the officials there to let them borrow the space shuttle. He wasn't happy about having to borrow it, but what else could they do? Both of the Megazords had been destroyed, their powers had been destroyed, they had no choice but to follow.
He wondered if he was really that great a leader for the Rangers. Tommy had handed him the reigns, trusted him with the leadership and the Power, and he'd destroyed both within the year. Tommy would probably be rather disappointed in him, if he knew what had happened. He was amazed that the rest of the team was still following him. Maybe they were doing so out of pure reflex.
He'd been ready to take on the world, or at least the bad guys, when the Power had first been given to him. They'd all been that way. It was a very high honor to be given the responsibility to protect the Earth, but it was a responsibility. And he'd failed. Failed his team and his planet. The only consolation was that they were all still alive. Despite everything, nobody had been killed.
The miracle was that they all apparently still viewed him as a competent leader. No matter how he felt, they apparently expected him to lead. It was too bad that Tommy wasn't around at the moment, or T.J. would have handed the leadership right back to him. It wouldn't have mattered if Tommy was powerless. None of them had their Powers.
Maybe it would be better to hand over the leadership to a new person. Maybe one of his current team, maybe someone else. Whoever he chose couldn't do as bad as he did.
Justin's voice came over the communicator, informing them that the shuttle was there. He cheered with the rest of the team, and then lead them off towards the shuttle. Guess he was going to lead for a little bit longer.
